What is considered "Downtown" Pawtucket?

The hardest thing to define about Downtown is exactly what area it encompasses. Everyone has a different answer. For our purposes, we would like to define Downtown as a ten minute walking distance from the Visitor's Center (175 Main St), which seems to be at the heart of Downtown. RIPTA stops there, Slater Mill and City Hall are nearby, and the buildings that we associate with Downtown are not far either.

The map below shows two concentric rings, one for 5 minutes and one for 10. This area encompasses parts of Quality Hill to the east, Division Street to the south, housing and mill living to the west and the Dexter, Broad and Barton Street neighborhoods to the north, almost to the border of Central Falls.

If I live outside of this area, does this mean PADS won't listen to me?

Certainly not. We welcome residents and businesses further out from the core, as well as people who work Downtown or visit regularly. When Downtown is better for walking, parking, or locating a business, it will benefit anyone who comes from near or far. When it comes to some of our initiatives, we'd love help from anyone willing to put in the effort, and when it comes to new ideas, again, the more the merrier.
