Pawtucket Opportunities

Despite some of the hurdles Pawtucket must overcome, it is our opinion that there are several opportunities in front of us as well. If the City – its leaders and its residents – take advantage of these opportunities, Pawtucket's revitalization will continue and even quicken its pace.

RI Housing and the Keep Space Program

Launched in the summer of 2007, KeepSpace is a widely inclusive partnership initiative to change the way we think about, build and approach “community.” RI Housing and KeepSpace have been in the process of reviews, studies and community meetings around the Central Falls/Pawtucket Train Station site, studying how best to proceed with transit oriented development in the area.

Downtown Traffic Study

The City is undergoing selection of a team of experts to assist in the study and implementation of improved traffic patterns in the city's downtown. The perview of the committee will also oversee and make recommendations for zoning revisions, landscape design, traffic and pedestrian interactions, and signage in the Downtown.

The Old Colonial Bank

While two RFP processes have come and gone, the Colonial Bank still stands at the corner of Dexter and Bayley Streets. There is still ample opportunity for the City to find a suitable owner who can remake this historic property into a jewel in the crown of historic properties around Downtown.
